Ensuring Your Child’s Safety
As any parent knows, the home can be a perilous place, with everyday objects suddenly transformed into items of real danger when tiny hands and feet are around. Stair gates and socket covers are high on the list of must-have items in homes where babies and toddlers live. Here at web-blinds.com we want to add specialist blind child safety devices to this list of essentials.
Check out our advice on ensuring the blinds in your home are safe.
Consider blinds without cords
It’s the looped control cords on certain types of blinds that need extra care and attention as far as children are concerned. Where possible, avoid this type of blind altogether by going for an alternative option.
Blinds that fit in a Perfect Fit frame
A Perfect Fit frame clips in place between the beading and glass of uPVC windows without the need for drilling and screwing. Pleated blinds or Venetian blinds can be fitted inside these frames. They open and close using a simple tab – no cords at all. Pleated blinds have an additional control rod to tilt the slats.
Luxury Roller blinds with no operating cords
Our luxury Roller blinds don’t have operating cords either. Simply position at your desired height using a pull or pole fitted to the bottom of the blind. A spring mechanism cleverly locks it into position.
Safety Guidelines if there are blind cords in your home
You can, of course, choose blinds with cords for your home and keep them safe by following our guidelines.
- Never place beds, cots or furniture near a window where children can climb on the sill
- Keep your blind controls out of the reach of children
- Always fit safety devices – these are available for FREE when you order your blinds from web-blinds.com.
Safety devices
We offer different types of safety devices to suit different types of blinds and will provide, for free, the one suitable for the blind you order. Just select ‘yes’ when you are asked if you would like a child safety device during the order process. (All customers in Ireland will automatically receive these devices with their orders.)
The devices either allow the controls to be wrapped around so they’re safely away from interested hands. Or they keep them taut and close to the wall so they can’t be moved.
These safety devices are a must if children live in your home, or even if they visit – no matter how infrequently. If you have blinds but do not have the devices, you can order them from our Parts & Accessories section.
