5 ways to make neutrals interesting

Here at Web-Blinds, we’re massive advocates of making a statement with colour. But sometimes, beige is just the ticket. Here are our top tips to keep neutrals interesting.

1. Vary the texture

There’s very little colour in this room, yet it doesn’t feel boring. That’s because it’s loaded with texture. From granite worktop, to luxurious Roman blinds, to stylish tile and elegant metal bar stools this room mixes things up, and the result is gorge.

2. Run with a theme

This room looks like it belongs by the sea and it’s just one example of how to beautifully theme a living space. Again, washed out neutrals dominate, but a smattering of greenery and loads of accessories, and of course those stunning shutters, means there’s plenty to feast your eyes on.

3. Go for a statement blind

Neutrals don’t have to mean bland. Choose a striking pattern, as we have here with our stripy Roller blind, and you’ll still pack a punch. In fact, the hazy colour scheme of this bathroom makes the whole room and picks up on the period styling of the space.

4. Add fun touches

For many of us, white or beige aren’t the shades we’d most associate with a nursery.  But there’s a really good reason why you shouldn’t discount it. A neutral basis allows you to display kids’ art, experiment with removable wall stickers or paint fun things like height charts onto the wall. For now this nursery has a delightful Scandi feel  with this nursery blind – but it will be easy to update as the child gets older.

5. Introduce wood

Though shades and stains might come and go, wood never goes out of style. The rich material is a perfect way to make neutrals work too. We’ve chosen a crisp white blind with pearl tape to set it off. A distressed wooden bedside table and lots of lovely textures complete the look.
