A global blind for Sharon’s family kitchen

After an unfortunate mishap with a homemade Roman blind, Sharon decided enough was enough. Find out how Web-Blinds helped her finish her window off perfectly.

Old Roman blind

“Last year, we knocked through our kitchen into the conservatory and had the roof replaced.” says Sharon. “I made a Roman blind for the new window above the sink. It wasn’t quite what I wanted, but I knew it would serve a purpose in the meantime.”

Sharon likes to entertain friends at her home. One evening, something was spilt on the blind. Unfortunately the blind shrunk when Sharon tried to clean it in the washing machine.

“After realising it was irredeemable, I decided to leave it to the experts,” says Sharon.

Sharon quickly logged on to Web-Blinds, and was pleasantly surprised when the range left her spoilt for choice. She had thought the range would be limited, and lead times long, so she was even more excited when her blind came in just a week!

Sharon wanted a blind that would add interest to her homely kitchen, without being too bold. Of course, after Sharon’s previous disaster, she decided she’d pick something that would wipe clean. The global print of our Damask Taupe fabric from the Roller blinds collection ticked all the boxes.

“I picked a Roller blind because it was a really practical choice. And that’s great, because my kitchen is definitely not for show! I love cooking, so my ingredients are always to hand.”

The pretty shaped hem Sharon chose may be a decorative touch, but it’s functional choice too. Sharon’s old Roman blind fitted outside the window, knocking over anything on the windowsill when she lowered it. Now, it sits neatly behind.

Of course, it’s even better when a blind can frame a beautiful view, and Sharon loves pottering in her garden, as well as her allotment just down the road.

“My new blind really does frame the view of my garden beautifully. Even on a rainy day, it’s a pleasure to gaze out, and when the weather’s nice, I’ll enjoy the view and throw the door open to let the dogs in and out as they please.”

Fact File: Meet Sharon

My home: I live with my husband in three-bedroom home in a quaint little village in Lincolnshire. We always have family and friends over, as well as our three lively dogs running around!

My room then: After knocking the wall between our kitchen and conservatory dining room through, we wanted to make the space the hub of the home. I quickly put up a Roman blind, but was looking for something more practical in the long run.

My room now: Now, my new Roller blind frames the view of the garden beautifully, and adds a pretty finishing touch to the room. It’s a lovely match for my orchid too.

Proudest project: I’m quite crafty, so there are lots of little touches around my home. I’m hoping my proudest project will be my next one – now my son’s flown the nest, I’m turning his old bedroom into a guest-room-come-craft-room and I can’t wait!
