We all want a relaxing bedroom. And Laura’s Riviera-inspired space will make you swoon. Take a look at her enviable style and see how a shoal of fish at the window finished the look.
With wedding planning in full swing, Laura was going through a bit of stressful time. Which made a relaxing bedroom all the more important – somewhere soft and squishy to get comfy at the end of a long, hard day.
“I’d been trying to update my bedroom to make it more of a tranquil, relaxing place to go to sleep,” says Laura. “One of things I’d been meaning to change is the way the window was dressed.
“The rest of the room was coming on quite well, but then your eye was drawn to the plain, uninspiring window. It didn’t say tranquil beach holiday in the way I wanted it to!”
With a soft white, taupe and blue scheme, nearly everything was picture perfect. Even the lighthouse was in place on the window sill. But the window dressing needed a bit of special attention.
“Having been a previous Web-Blinds customer, I visited the site once again and noticed they’d released a brand new Roman blind called Drift Indigo. With pretty pictures of fish swimming in the sea, I knew it would be perfect for what I was trying to achieve in my bedroom.
“I chose a blackout lining to help inspire the sleep I oh-so needed. Dormer windows can be tricky to dress, but choosing a recess fitted blind solved the problem. It’s the perfect match for the room without needing to do anything else!”
Laura’s cat looks pretty happy with the new set-up too. He can definitely vouch for the snooze-friendly qualities of a blackout lining!

If you’re looking to create a cool coastal scheme of your own, we’ve plenty of other options. Feast your eyes on these little beauties – and imagine yourself drifting away.
Go for a rich blue to complement white furnishings and pattern elsewhere in the room. This Marine Blue Venetian blind is pretty appropriately named.
Nothing says seaside chic like stripes. And this Mawes Porcelain Roman blind has a colour palette that screams sun, sea and sand.
For a more subtle take on the coastal trend, try our Sutton Aqua Roller blind. The pretty textured finish brings to mind rustic rope and will suit shabby chic schemes down to the ground.
