Nikki and Ian’s perfect bedroom blinds

Nikki and Ian’s home tells the story of their relationship. The couple first met at the exact spot they would build their matrimonial home. In the second of a three-part series about the property, we talk to Nikki and Ian about their hardworking guest-bedroom-cum-office.

Nikki and Ian’s guestroom is more than just a room frequented by visitors. With Nikki working  from home regularly, it also serves as her office.

This meant a practical window dressing was super important: Nikki needed a blind with slats she could easily tilt to combat glare.

“We’d already earmarked Wooden blinds for the kitchen and living room,” says Nikki. “We’re both perfectionists so kerb appeal was an important consideration. We wanted our windows to look neat from the outside.

“This, coupled with the fact I needed something to help me control glare on my laptop screen, meant that Wooden blinds were a natural choice.

“When we ordered samples for the living room and kitchen, we knew they would look perfect in the guest bedroom too; we really liked the bright and airy effect.”

Nikki and Ian went ahead with the Deluxe Puritan slat they’d already chosen for elsewhere in their home. Picking wide slats meant Nikki got the light control she wanted, but the blind wouldn’t make the room feel too dark.

When the blinds came, Ian was impressed with how well-packaged they were, and just how speedily they were delivered.

“The Web-Blinds videos on YouTube videos were great and really helped me with the fitting. And it meant I knew that when the blinds were delivered, they were going to be spot on. The guides gave me peace of mind,” says Ian.

Of course the blinds aren’t just practical – they look great too. The white walls and matching blinds provide a bright canvas for splashes of colour in the bedding – it’s a room that feels like summer all year round.

“They match the windows themselves really well too.  We chose tape instead of cord to soften the look. The lines of the tape complement the wooden window frames and create a neat, pleasing finish,” says Nikki.

The couple couldn’t be happier with their multi-use room, and their stylish design aesthetic seen in the living room and kitchen carries on nicely upstairs.

Next time, we take a look at how Nikki and Ian achieved a boutique hotel feel in their master bedroom and en suite.
