You love your partner and you’re completely compatible in every single way … apart from one tiny little thing: sharing a bed.
Once tucked up in bed, they fall asleep straightaway leaving you to listen to their heavy breathing; they’re hot and you’re cool; they toss while you turn. It’s a list that could go on and on.
If this sounds like a scene from your bedroom, then rest assured you’re not alone. Roughly one in three people blame their own lack of sleep on their partner’s bedtime behaviour. And the side effects of failing to get a good night can have a ruinous impact upon your relationship.
Fortunately, tackling some of the common sleeping problems couples encounter can be easy. For example, if one of you is a wriggler, then choose a queen or king-size bed and make sure you have the ‘perfect’ mattress.
Set the bedroom temperature to suit the warmer partner – the cooler side of the relationship can always put on pyjamas or extra layers.
When it comes to a snoring partner, finding an answer might prove a bit tougher. You could try anti-snore pillows, sprays and nasal strips or it might take resorting to more drastic measures such as surgery.
